Milkshake: A Saturday hike to Long Ke Wan Beach

I get very excited whenever mommy w starts packing her yellow bag because it means that we're going on a hike. This morning after she got her packing done she fed Lemondrop his breakfast (no food for me as I still have a funny tummy) and off we went to the car!

We arrived at the destination only an hour later but it was worth it when I saw some humans and dogs whose company I enjoy - auntie j with Donny, and auntie m with Porkchop. There were a lot of other unfamiliar humans and dogs too but I was too shy to say hello. Of course Lemondrop was gallivanting around saying hello to everyone with his charming smile but I was content just to sit next to mommy v.

I love hikes because it means being away from the city and the noise and the people. Today's hike was extra special because it was so beautiful with the walks on the cliffs and the panoramic vistas of the sea.

Then we got to the beach! What joy! I ran with some other dogs and as much as I enjoyed myself, I think Lemondrop was giddy with happiness as there was mommy v and auntie j playing the Yellow Ball with him. I started playing with him...

.. and stopped when I got to the point where the waves met the beach because it was extremely cold and the waves were a bit scary. I was a bit worried about Lemondrop...

... as the waves were quite strong and I was afraid he may drown.

You see, he disappeared!

But I have to say, he got pretty good with the game. He knew when the waves would come and he would jump over the surf and swim out to the Yellow Ball, grab it tight in his mouth and swim back and sometimes ride on the wave! Most impressive.

The Yellow Ball game got boring after a while so I tagged along with Donny and Porkchop - Porkchop is always following Donny but that's another story altogether and I shall come back to it later.

Can you see Lemondrop jumping over the surf?! Wow! I think maybe he is partly an Aussie, but don't tell him that as he considers himself English and will be most offended.

After we had enough of the beach we went back to the funny rocks area and went to another water area. I decided it was a little too cold to get wet so I watched while Lemondrop and Donny swam.

But they looked like they were enjoying it so much I decided to join in the fun.

Like I said, it was a beautiful day.

Porkchop continued to bother Donny all day - there IS something about Donny but I just can't put my paw on it - and I was surprised that Donny sometimes flirted back! There were times when Donny couldn't take the harassment anymore and snapped at him but I am quite certain that Donny actually enjoyed the attention.

See? He likes it. Tsk. Boys will be boys...
