Lemondrop: I am famous!

I am mod dog of the month. For those of you who don't already know, Mod Dog (http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheModDog) has some of the world's nicest collars. I have two collars from them, one with bees and one with squirrels. I was wearing the latter and enjoying the wind in my ears when mommy w snapped a picture of me and sent it to them.

And I won!

Milkshake: I wish upon my Nylabone...

Mommy w got me a Nylabone from Canada for Christmas, and it is shaped like a wishbone in a turkey. I like to chew on it but Lemondrop likes it too, and will grab the opportunity to take it from me whenever he can.

Lemondrop sometimes like to sleep upside down like a dead cockroach. Somehow this really endears the mommies to him and they will rub his belly.

When they stop, he will give them the aren't-I-adorable-so-why-have-you-stopped-petting-me look, aka "blue steel" look. I name it so because it is such a stupid look, like how Zoolander does it.

Isn't he spoilt!

Milkshake: Big open spaces with a lot of (human) kids can be a bit scary...

Mommy w announced that we were off to Cyberport Park this afternoon and I cringed inwardly. I remember it is usually full of pesky kids. Lemondrop was of course oblivious to my worrying as he noticed that mommy v had the Yellow Ball stick in her bag. And we all know how fixated he is with that ball.

I was frowning quite a bit, starting from the beginning of the journey, while we were in the lift.

When we got to the park, I refused to come out of the car. Mommy v had to coax me out a few times before I reluctantly got out... then I heard the kids - a LOT of them - and I couldn't take it anymore. I went straight into someone else's car as the door was open and the humans looked surprised but they only just laughed at me. Mommy v hurriedly herded me out and seeing no other safe corner, I ran straight for the field of flowers.

I heard mommy v's familiar whistle so I ventured out to the big open space...

... and spotted Lemondrop already playing with the Yellow Ball.

But there were a lot of kids. They were so terrifying! Their high-pitched voices, their reckless abandon, their excitable energy... I don't know what to do with myself. I'd rather hide than be within thirty feet from them.

Lemondrop was still obsessed with the Yellow Ball and he didn't seem to mind the kids too much.

He even picked up a Husky friend while playing...

I have to say, the Husky is rather handsome! I hardly see lean and fit-looking Huskies...

Mommy w bumped into a friend with two Golden Retrievers, Buddy and Charlie. The friend asked if we could look after them for a while because she needed to find a "loo". I don't understand why humans can't do it where we do it.

While waiting, we met another new friend, Boo.

Boo is only 4 months old and also from the HKDR. He looked like a little Porkchop, don't you think?

Thankfully by the time we walked around the park a few times most of the kids were gone. As much as I like the smell of the sea nearby and the flowers in the park, I much prefer a walk in the countryside.

Milkshake: Perfect weather + beach + sunshine + favourite humans and dogs = a very happy Saturday

I knew we were off somewhere special today as mommy w had her yellow bag out since last night. It must be the weekend! We were herded to the car and as usual I took my spot while Lemondrop stuck his head out to see the world.

After the car was parked, we had to take a cab to the start of the hike. Lemondrop was so impatient and kept telling us to hurry up!

It was a bit of a squeeze in the green cab since there were three humans and three dogs, but we managed.

I remember doing this hike once before with mommy w. It would be a long walk, so I decided to poop first and Lemondrop copied me.

So for today's hike we had mommy v and w, auntie m and auntie j, and human y. Donny, Porkchop and (new friend) Alo formed the rest of the pack.

Donny and Lemondrop walked so fast they had to wait for the rest to catch up! While waiting, Lemondrop wasted no time trying to get treats from the humans. He gave his cute, doe-eyed grin... but I don't think mommy v took the bait.

Then we got to the beach!

And of course the Yellow Ball was what Lemondrop went for, once again.
You can also see that Porkchop hadn't forgotten his infatuation with Donny although the love was a little tamer today.

Donny actually gave Lemondrop a run for his money with the Yellow Ball game.

Lemondrop will drop the Yellow Ball a few feet away from mommy v but Donny will snatch it from under his very nose! Mommy v looked miffed.

Then it was time to go to another beach...

I met some new friends along the way -

Just before we reached Tai Long Wan.

Once on the beach, Lemondrop immediately wanted to play with the Yellow Ball again. Pffft. How predictable.

But mommy v indulged him.

There's a reason why this beach is called Big Wave Bay, and I could hardly believe Lemondrop was THAT brave!

Me: I think it's time to run for it... Look at the wave!
Lemondrop: Not until I get the Yellow Ball!

And he made it back alive!

Mommy was about to throw the Yellow Ball again.

And Donny almost got it!

I was all wet... and bored...

So the humans decided that it was time for a rest at the restaurant. Lemondrop had to be tied up as usual.

And Alo too, while he looked on at the food on the table.

Off we went again very shortly, and we encountered cows. Lots of 'em!

There were also mangrove swamps which we explored with glee but to the disconcertion of mommy v. She said it was dangerous with all the roots sticking out of the mud.

But I think it was just because our paws got all black.

We could hail for a sampan,

But there was the ferry at the pier just about to depart so we took that instead.

Donny was happy to be on the boat as it was one of the rare times he got off the leash.

Sometimes I can't tell Lemondrop from Donny when they are next to each other. They like having their ears flapping in the wind.

Lemondrop: Why are we not on the sampan? We can get home much faster!

Milkshake: Sometimes it's not about the speed. It's not the destination, Lemondrop, but the journey. You should meditate more.

And before we knew it, our happy day was almost over. We got off the ferry...

And went home to the Water Gods again. Lemondrop now smells of human shampoo (mommy w said she got it free from HKDR's Peak to Fong goodie bag) while I smell of oatmeal. Time to zzz now...

Lemondrop: Have you ever tasted "foie gras flavored duck rillettes"???

I had a taste of heaven. Ohhh forget the pancakes mommy v made on Sunday. This is what heaven tastes like.

After mommy v used all the rillette, I was allowed to lick the can. Yummy...

Milkshake didn't get any because she is still not feeling 100%. I'm so glad I got to lick the can all by myself!
