Lemondrop: Do not disturb

As much as I like to venture outside, sometimes running with mommy v is a chore. She runs so fast and lets Milkshake offleash at Bowen Road but never me. What about the Evil One with the poison? Oh that's just a fairy tale she made up to keep me on the leash.

Milkshake is feeling better already that's for sure, especially after the visit to the vet. Her poop is firm and now smells interesting. Of course I can never get too close to them as they are cleared in a plastic bag in a jiffy.

Here is Milkshake after the run:

Here is me after the run:

I'm not too fat, am I? The humans have been saying I am putting on weight. I want MORE food!!!

Lemondrop: Homemade pancakes with Canadian pure maple syrup = heaven!

I like Sundays because I get to sleep in my brown doughnut bed a little longer. Mommy w will wake up later than usual, give us our morning potty walk and have her coffee. Mommy v will wake up even later and start making breakfast. Today she made pancakes with organic flour and eggs from New Zealand, topped with French butter, Canadian pure maple syrup (not the cheap Aunt Jemima's corn syrup trying to pass off as maple syrup) and blueberries. How do I know the specific ingredients, you ask? Well, my nose is THAT good.

Maybe my hovering around the kitchen paid off, because mommy v decided to make a small pancake just for me!

I slurped it up in 2 seconds.

It was one of the best 2-seconds in my life.

Ahhhh, I like Sundays.

Milkshake: A Saturday hike to Long Ke Wan Beach

I get very excited whenever mommy w starts packing her yellow bag because it means that we're going on a hike. This morning after she got her packing done she fed Lemondrop his breakfast (no food for me as I still have a funny tummy) and off we went to the car!

We arrived at the destination only an hour later but it was worth it when I saw some humans and dogs whose company I enjoy - auntie j with Donny, and auntie m with Porkchop. There were a lot of other unfamiliar humans and dogs too but I was too shy to say hello. Of course Lemondrop was gallivanting around saying hello to everyone with his charming smile but I was content just to sit next to mommy v.

I love hikes because it means being away from the city and the noise and the people. Today's hike was extra special because it was so beautiful with the walks on the cliffs and the panoramic vistas of the sea.

Then we got to the beach! What joy! I ran with some other dogs and as much as I enjoyed myself, I think Lemondrop was giddy with happiness as there was mommy v and auntie j playing the Yellow Ball with him. I started playing with him...

.. and stopped when I got to the point where the waves met the beach because it was extremely cold and the waves were a bit scary. I was a bit worried about Lemondrop...

... as the waves were quite strong and I was afraid he may drown.

You see, he disappeared!

But I have to say, he got pretty good with the game. He knew when the waves would come and he would jump over the surf and swim out to the Yellow Ball, grab it tight in his mouth and swim back and sometimes ride on the wave! Most impressive.

The Yellow Ball game got boring after a while so I tagged along with Donny and Porkchop - Porkchop is always following Donny but that's another story altogether and I shall come back to it later.

Can you see Lemondrop jumping over the surf?! Wow! I think maybe he is partly an Aussie, but don't tell him that as he considers himself English and will be most offended.

After we had enough of the beach we went back to the funny rocks area and went to another water area. I decided it was a little too cold to get wet so I watched while Lemondrop and Donny swam.

But they looked like they were enjoying it so much I decided to join in the fun.

Like I said, it was a beautiful day.

Porkchop continued to bother Donny all day - there IS something about Donny but I just can't put my paw on it - and I was surprised that Donny sometimes flirted back! There were times when Donny couldn't take the harassment anymore and snapped at him but I am quite certain that Donny actually enjoyed the attention.

See? He likes it. Tsk. Boys will be boys...

Lemondrop: Oops I did it again!

Milkshake hasn't been feeling well lately. When she poops, only brown liquid comes out and as much as I sometimes love poop, this smell is just bad. Stinkin' high bad. Mommy w was most annoyed when Milkshake pooped a lovely puddle in the middle of the night in the bedroom. I just hid under the ledge as they cleaned up. I feel safe under the ledge.

So earlier this evening mommy w and v went out and left us alone at home. I sniffed around. The item (within my reach) that has most of mommy w's smell is a plastic-wrapped paper with a hard core.

I took it and brought it back to my bed and started chewing it. It doesn't taste of anything but I wondered what the hard core was. I chewed and chewed.

And then they came home! I was so happy to see them I forgot to put the plastic back to its original place. But one look at their faces sent me under the ledge, while Milkshake continued to wag her tail. She held Mr Elephant in her mouth (which helped her look more innocent) and was trying so hard to say in human language that it was me. Tattletale!!

Milkshake: A slow day

Lemondrop sometimes hover around when I eat my treats on my bed, which almost always elicit a stern stare from mommy v and w. Today after dinner I was given dried veal tendons (from New Zealand) and as usual Lemondrop was too curious for his own good.

I fell asleep right after the meal. Can't blame me for that as it was a heavy meal, and now that I am fed once a day I am usually so hungry by then I will eat whatever is put in front of me. Today I had beef tendon, ox tongue, salmon belly, a slab of beef steak and chunks of lamb shoulder (didn't finish this one though). Oh, I had an organic egg as well, shells and all. What a variety! Lemondrop didn't look too pleased though. He only had a lump of chicken breast.

Zzz.. ..

Milkshake: The loss of my appetite

I don't know why but I have recently lost my appetite. Maybe it's the strange little pills that I'm given. I know they are pills even though mommy v tries to hide them in cream cheese, peanut butter, even French Brie. But I can tell. Some days I eat them to make her happy but there are times when I don't want to eat them at all. The last few days, I don't even want to eat the food, much less the (hidden) pills.

They try to give me a variety of food: beef brisket, lean beef, rabbit, duck, porkchop, lamb, lamb with skin, salmon, even those hard round pellets of what the humans call "kibble"... but really, when I don't want to eat I just don't want to eat. Then there are days when I only want to eat lean meat without the fat or tendon.

Like today.

Mommy v looked upset with me for not eating all the food - I had a few nibbles only, really - so she force fed me. Said something about having to eat food with the pills from the vet. Sigh.

Earlier this afternoon I puked up some leaves. Must have been the leaves I ate during noon when mommy w and Lemondrop were playing with the Yellow Ball.

The puke doesn't look too pretty, I know, but it was tasty when I ate it! Like salad. Fresh salad. Yummm.

Milkshake: A happy day

Mommy v woke up at 3:45am this morning to the beep beep of the small metal tin next to her bed. It was still very dark but I decided to get up and see why she got up so early. As we milled around, Lemondrop was still fast asleep. He didn't even perk up nor open an eye to see what we were up to. So lazy!

We were then shuffled into the car. How I love the car especially when the hood is down! But it wasn't down this morning as it was a little too cold. This time we were in the car for a long, long time. We went through a few tunnels (I know this because Lemondrop is terrified of tunnels and he will shake and tremble non-stop when we go through one) and finally arrived at the destination, the Hong Kong airport. After a few minutes' wait, we saw mommy w!! I was beside myself with joy. Although the new surrounding was quite scray to me, I could not help but wagged my tail furiously and tried to lick mommy w. She has been gone too long. She smelt of the country, of a land far, far away, of snow and fir and pine. How lovely.

In the afternoon we were left at home to rest and sleep more. The humans returned in the evening and brought us to Cyberport Park. I quite like the park as it is big and windy, and there is plenty of space for me to run away from the pesky children.

Lemondrop went after the Yellow Ball again while I chased a few dogs and sniffed around. After a few rounds around the park we went home, and Lemondrop was chosen to be sacrificed to the water god first.

I tried to avoid it but I stood no chance. I don't know why but I have been given a bath twice a week for the last few months. They said it's something because of my skin. It's itchy, I know, and sometimes it can drive me up the wall but do I really need two baths a week?

But I do smell nice now. I smell of oatmeal. Lemondrop smells of human shampoo. The shame he has to carry with him! No wonder he usually tries to rub himself in monkey poop or cow dung or rotting fish.
